Cranking it out

I'm making some more progress in terms of cranking out VPPs. However, I broke my rules about reducing the number of tables last night because the games were so good, which was probably a bad idea. I haven't been looking at my cashier for a while now which is nice, but I still peek at the monthly graph in BBs only, just to keep an eye on things. At the end of the month I'll post my shit ass graph and then reevaluate whether I should be playing MSNL at the moment.

The Pokertars client froze up on me and I could hear all the action going down but could do nothing. Control came back after I had used my time banks on 75% of my tables. I wasn't in the middle of any big hands or anything but nothing tilts me more in online poker than connection and software issues. Oh well, I have already banged out nearly 3k VPPS and definitely have at least 2 more hours of play in me for tonight.

Also, PSA to fellow NL grinders, please please start games if you look at the lobby and see that there are no open seats at tables with more than 1 player. I do my best to start games but once I get a ton of tables running I can no longer play HU. When the lobby is that heavily waitlisted and all incoming players are forced to your single running game, you usually get a fish to come within 5 minutes, if not sooner.

But I'm feeling like I'm playing OK and keeping the table numbers down has definitely helped a lot. This will all feel so much better once I get into the black and am winning over a big sample, even if its only 1ptbb, or even if I have to stop playing 600nl to achieve that. For now, the doubt consumes me from time to time, this would have been easier on the mind had I been playing MSNL more recently than March of last year.

Anyway, another day passes without a terrible call to post, so that's good for me. In lieu of that, here's a hand I took a sort of weird line that I like although it probably misses some value against strong overpairs. Turn bet was so small that I figured that I could reasonably be seen to be calling that with a some flushdraws and therefore inducing bluffs on blank rivers. If he made it bigger I'd have just shipped.

After open folding QQ twice early in the day due to just jamming Tableninja buttons I decided it was time to cut out some tables. I had been playing 20-24 tables all month (and have not been doing well at all) and I cut that to 14-18 and everything just felt so much better and I had a nice winning session. Results oriented, I know, blah blah blah. This will require more hours spent getting VPPs but I'll feel more comfortable sticking with the MSNL games if I can focus better and that will hopefully make up some of the reduced VPP/hr rate. Also, I need to finish up my playing day by 1am EST on weekdays, as after that I have to mix in a lot of 100nl to find decent games.

Also one hand for you guys, I couldn't find a really bad call today. :) After I folded this I wanted to puke when I saw their hands. BTN is reg, CO is fishy.

My current setup is... less than optimal

I'm at my mom's house and don't really have a great setup to grind in and I'm starting to get tired of it.

I'm sure all you guys who spent the big bucks on the Aeron chairs are probably cringing at this, but don't worry in a week I'll be back at my apartment which has this super ballin' setup...

Having a sick setup just never really meant a ton to me I guess, I have a 30 inch monitor and a nice desktop that I bought a while ago and have never really used. It may come into play if I think it will make 24 tabling way easier but I'm having enough trouble keeping up with the action on that many tables anyway, it may not be a great idea.

Anyway, knocked off about 4100 VPPS today, which I'm very pleased with. It didn't feel draining at all and if I do that everyday for the rest of January I'll be ahead of "true pace" even with a big chunk of vacation time.
